Clinical Nurse Specialist - Fracture Liaison Service

Are you an experienced and motivated nurse with a passion for improving outcomes for patients with fragility fractures? We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Fracture Liaison Service, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care across acute trust sites.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of a specialist service focused on secondary fracture prevention. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, influencing pathways of care, supporting national FLS standards, and improving patient experience through education, innovation and leadership.

Working across sites, you will deliver specialist assessment, education and service development while supporting the wider team to ensure safe, effective and timely patient care.

You will work closely with lead clinicians, care group managers and directors to help shape and deliver the strategic vision of the Fracture Liaison Service, ensuring alignment with local and national priorities.

Main duties of the job

• Provide specialist nursing expertise in osteoporosis and fracture prevention.
• Deliver high-quality assessment, treatment, management and follow-up of patients within the Fracture Liaison Service.
• Contribute to the strategic development and delivery of the service in line with local and national priorities.
• Participate in local and national audit programmes, including Fracture Liaison Service Database (FLS-DB) activities.
• Support the implementation of policies, guidelines and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.
• Provide specialist education and training to patients, carers, students and healthcare professionals.
• Develop and deliver patient workshops and educational programmes.
• Work collaboratively with lead clinicians, managers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve service objectives.
• Act as a professional role model, demonstrating effective leadership and communication skills.
• Deputise for the Fracture Liaison Service Lead as required.
• Deliver presentations and education sessions to large professional and patient audiences.
• Demonstrate specialist knowledge of osteoporosis, orthopaedics, rheumatology and fracture prevention.

• Support the Fracture Liaison Service Lead in delivering a safe, effective and high-quality service.
• Manage and prioritise a defined caseload, providing support and guidance to less experienced colleagues when required.
• Work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to achieve service objectives.
• Contribute to service development, planning, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in local and national audits and ensure timely submission of relevant data.
• Implement national standards and guidance, including NICE and NOGG recommendations.
• Utilise FLS-DB data to monitor performance and support ongoing service improvement.
• Maintain compliance with information governance, confidentiality, data protection and Caldicott principles.
