Job summary
Due to fixed term contract expiring creating an opportunity for an existing member of the Special Care Dental Service team to take up a permanent Band C Managerial post for our SouthWest area. The successful applicant will work closely with Tina and Lavinia, providing professional leadership in the SouthWest area and contribute to Service wide leadership via the management huddle, Clinical Leads Group and Business Integrated Governance/Business Operational meetings.This position will not be advertised externally and in keeping with the Trusts commitment to succession planning and career development we are now seeking interest from Senior Dental Officers.Please see attached job description and person specification to understand more about the role and the responsibilities of the post.
Main duties of the job
The Band C Management Dentist for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Dental Service is responsible for ensuring that the highest standard of care is delivered for adults and children. The post holder will provide the professional clinical leadership, providing support and advice to dentists, dental care professionals and other stakeholders.The Band C Management Dentist will form part of the Senior Management Team with the Clinical Director, Clinical Leads and the Head of Quality & Professions.The Dental Service provides preventive care and treatment for those who cannot receive care in a general dental setting due to their special needs which includes those with a physical sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional or social impairment or disability and those who require specialist occasional care due to medical, physical or behavioural difficulties.A full range of treatment is provided which may also include treatment under conscious sedation (trans mucosal, inhalation or intravenous sedation) and also general anaesthesia for adults and children. Domiciliary services are also provided for those who are elderly, frail and housebound.Other services provided include Dental Public Health Services which includes Oral Health Promotion, Screening and Epidemiology and also a Dental Referral Management Service.
