Job overview

We are looking for a clinical lead occupational therapist passionate about working with adults with learning disabilities to work alongside other qualified occupational therapists and assistant occupational therapists, within an experienced multi-disciplinary team. This post will be a clinical post working in the community directly with  adults with learning disabilities, their families and carers. The role will involve working across clinical pathways of mental health and positive behavioural support and liaising with partner organisations.  You will contribute to governance within the department, such as audits, and training that the department provides to colleagues.  This post is a years fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

This role will be in the community (either seeing clients at base, home visits or at other sites in the community) across Newcastle and Gateshead. Key roles will include consultation, assessment formulation and intervention (both direct and in-direct), functional skills, sensory assessment and contribute to wider clinical work within the team.

You will be part of a supportive and experienced team of clinicians, who work closely together. Your main responsibilities will be clinical, developing your therapeutic skills in working with adults with a learning disability, and offering consultation, supervision and training to colleagues. In addition there is a leadership role, supporting clinical caseloads across Newcastle and Gateshead.

Regular supervision from qualified clinicians will be provided, and there are good opportunities for further training within the Trust.
