We are seeing and experienced, skilled and compassionate individual for the role of Clinical Lead for the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (Midlands). The NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (Midlands) is part of a network of CYP Gender service providers across England.
The lead will ensure that the service is set up to be delivered by a wide multi-disciplinary team including paediatricians, psychiatrists, mental health practitioners, youth workers, nurses, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. Who patients see will be dependant on the support and care they need.
Children and young people will receive and in-depth assessment of their needs, and a care plan will be developed with them and, if needed, those supporting them. CYP may be offered a range of care interventions such as therapy, family therapy, physical health support or mental health support for any identified difficulties they may want help with. The team will also liaise with health care professionals in local services nearer to the child or young person.
It is expected that NHS CYP Gender Service will continue to change and evolve as more learning, research and evidence is developed in this area, and therefore we would encourage applications from individuals with a passion for service improvement, audit and research.
The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership and expertise to this important, high profile, and complex service development, working closely with the Trust and the team they recruit. The post holder will lead the team they recruit to deliver this service and will work with the wider collaborative network with partner Trusts, other regional centres and NHS England at a National level. This will include providing strategic and operational support to the ongoing development of the new service, ensuring delivery is consistent witht he Cass reviewFianl Report and NHS England Implementation Plan and other regional centres. The role will be required to provide assurance internally and externally on the ongoing development of the new service, via regional and national governance forum.
We are looking for an individual with significant senior experience in establishing and/or running new services, supporting services to develop and continually improve their performance. The post holder will have experience in managing complex, multi disciplinary, and ideally politically contentions programmes. The successful individual will be proactive, and solution orientate, with the ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of people. We encourage applicants who are currently Consultants in their specialist area from a Paediatrician or Consultant Psychiatry post.
