Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience of working with service users with mental health needs?

Due to a period of parental leave, we are able to offer this fixed term opportunity to a dietitian with leadership and management skills. You will be based in our Healthy Living Service, which covers both community and inpatients.

The successful candidate will lead an innovative team of dietitians who have active involvement in contributing to local and national guidance. There are strong links with local universities, community transformation partnership, public health and teaching hospitals which provide opportunities for training and development.

You will be responsible for supervising and supporting other professionals within the service with regards to dietetic provision. You will also represent dietetics within the local team Clinical Governance Council.

There will also be opportunities for independent working and team working. You will receive clinical supervision and opportunities for skill development.

An enthusiastic, positive outlook is essential, as are strong communication skills and the ability to develop rapport with service users and multiple professionals across the trust to uphold our values of caring, compassion and keeping things simple.

Main duties of the job

Provide supervision and leadership to dietitians

To lead the dietetic component of the healthy living service and provide a clinical service for complex referrals

To take a lead developmental role in dietetic practice

To be responsible for championing the importance of nutritional health to other health professionals

To promote evidenced based practice on all nutritional issues, with training and support of all clinical, professional and healthcare staff

Undertake complex dietetic assessments and make recommendations to guide future interventions

Provide dietetic interventions for complex cases

To contribute to the development and review of evidenced based dietetic resources

To promote the role of dietetics trust wide

Lead on the development of dietetic provision within the HLS and in developing pathways with partners. This will involve working in partnership with other members of the healthy living team, Leeds Community Healthcare, community providers including third sector organisations, Leeds City Council, local community groups as appropriate to needs of the service and service users

  • Nutrition & Dietetics degree and HCPC registration
