Job overview

Airedale NHSFT is seeking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Urology for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory progress. This post is ideally suited to prospective ST3 applicants who intend to apply for a National Training Number.

Successful candidates will be supported to expand, enhance, & progress their development toward a career in Urology.

Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems & clinical practice, or equivalent, is desirable.

This post is well suited to candidates seeking further clinical experience & portfolio development within a supportive environment. We expect applicants to have experience equivalent to ST3-level registrar, & we will provide guidance toward NTN Urology applications as required.

Overseas applicants must be eligible for GMC registration & must have passed the IELTS with a minimum overall score of 7.5. This must be clearly stated on the application. Please refer to the GMC website for further details.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of both elective & emergency urology services, including outpatient clinics, diagnostics, & core urological procedures. Exposure will be available in core urology, a wide range of BOO surgery, PCNLs, laparoscopic nephrectomy, paediatric urology, and flexible ureterorenoscopy with laser.

There will also be opportunities to participate in quality improvement  projects, audits, & teaching for both departmental staff & undergraduate students.

Main duties of the job

  • Participate fully in elective and emergency urological services • Deliver the highest possible standard of patient care • Work as an active and engaged member of the Urology team • Maintain clinical competence and professional development • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams • Teach medical students and clinical staff • Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures

The department provides emergency urology services with acute cover 08.00-18.00 Monday to Friday and  weekend  mainly non resident on a 1:5 week rota, supported by General Surgery SHOs and Urology FY1s during working hours.
