NHS TAYSIDE

FIXED TERM CLINICAL FELLOW IN OPHTHALMOLOGY (ST EQUIVALENT LEVEL)

Applications are invited for the above post based at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain further experience in Ophthalmology at foundation doctor level.

The post is available from June 2026 to August 2027.

The successful candidate will join a team of foundation doctors, specialty registrars, and Consultant Ophthalmology Surgeons. Although this post is not formally recognised for training, the role will be broadly similar to that of a specialty registrar doctor and offer opportunities across a broad spectrum of ophthalmology including ward review, surgery, emergency care and outpatient activities. Department strengths include glaucoma, high volume cataract surgery and macula and uveitis.

Candidates should be GMC registered.

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 6 months experience of taking and managing emergency referrals in ophthalmology

Desirable

  • Minimum of 6 months experience at ST1-2 level (CT)

Circumstances of Job

  • Based at Ninewells Hospital Dundee
  • Able to travel to another site, e.g. Perth Royal Infirmary

  • Valid driver’s license
