We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.
The successful candidate will participate in the registrar on call rota, covering both gynaecology and obstetrics. This will include delivery suite cover and acute gynaecology and early pregnancy. We operate a 1 in 8 on call rota including nights and weekends.
Day time activities include endometriosis clinics, chronic pelvic pain clinics, general gynaecology and occasionally rapid access. In addition, there will be protected opportunities to be in theatre with the endometriosis and oncology team, including robotic theatre. Protected time will be allocated weekly for any project or management work the candidate might be interested in and we have a range of large scale audit projects to be involved
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor to join our dynamic team of resident and trust grade doctors. We hope this will be a good opportunity to work in a busy, tertiary unit. Giving the candidate unique experiences in oncology, endometriosis, urogynaecology and fetal medicine. This role will support the tier 2/3 rota for the on call portion, and part time during the day to help with service provision and training in theatres.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Participate in on call cover on a 1 in 8 rolling basis. Support day time activities including clinics, day case procedures and theatres. There will also be many opportunities to engage in departmental audit, teaching and risk management.
- Our theatres routinely run 3 session days into the evening. Your rota will include regular 3 session days and this will be reflected in pay and in the frequency of twilight on call sessions you would be expected to cover for the main department.
- You will be allocated an educational and clinical supervisor and have the opportunity to engage in collecting portfolio evidence and develop skills in your area of interest.

- Experience of supervising junior staff.
- Ability to teach clinical skills.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC registration or eligibility to obtain this within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants).
Desirable
- MRCOG
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Good history & examination skills.
- Carry out basic caesarean section independently
- Competent at instrumental delivery
- Able to safely run labour ward with consultant support
- Able to order appropriate investigations.
- Image interpretation relevant to practice.
- Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague.
- Can perform operative laparoscopy including cystectomy, adhesiolysis and minor treatment to endometriosis independently.
Desirable
- Spent time in robotic theatre including set up and assisting.
Clinical Governance, Audit and Research
Essential
- Experience of audit projects.
Management and Administration Experience
Essential
- Ability to run a service and participate in management process.
- Committed to share in professional, managerial and teaching responsibilities necessary to fulfil the obligations of the Directorate to the Trust and its workforce.
- Able to communicate well with patients and colleagues.
