NHS TAYSIDE

FIXED TERM (12 MONTHS) CLINICAL FELLOW IN PLASTIC SURGERY (CT LEVEL)

Applications are invited for the above post based at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain further experience in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery at core trainee level.

The post is available from 5th August 2026 for 12 months.

The successful candidate will join a team of two core trainees and four clinical fellows (CT level), seven specialty registrars, and nine Consultant Plastic Surgeons. Although this post is not formally recognised for training, the role will be broadly similar to that of the core trainee and offer opportunities across a broad spectrum of plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery. Particular department strengths include skin oncology, hand surgery and hand trauma, microsurgical breast reconstruction and a wide range of general plastic surgery.

Candidates ideally will have passed part A of MRCS (or equivalent) and have evidence of experience in Plastic and Hand surgery at Core Trainee level.

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Experience of taking and managing emergency referrals in plastic surgery

Desirable

  • Minimum of 6 months experience at core surgical trainee level in plastic surgery

Circumstances of Job

Essential

  • Based at Ninewells Hospital Dundee, but successful candidate will be expected to attend commitments outside Dundee, principally at Perth Royal Infirmary, Stracathro Hospital, Queen Margaret Hospital and St Andrews Community Hospital.
