An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly patient centered team at Salisbury Fertility Centre, in Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust set in the glorious Wiltshire countryside. We are looking for a clinical embryologist to join our team for a 6 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave from August 2026.

Salisbury Fertility Centre is a well-established centre of over 20 years, offering a full range of laboratory diagnostic and assisted conception techniques, including IVF, ICSI, microTESE, gamete & embryo cryopreservation, including a large NHS Fertility Preservation program, along with an active egg and embryo donation programs.

Salisbury Fertility Centre also runs a patient embryo research program with Manchester University Hospital Trust. We are involved as a training centre for the national Scientist Training Program’ having successfully mentored 11 graduates within the scheme.

Suitable applicants must have experience of performing clinical workload within an embryology laboratory setting and be familiar with the HFEA Code of Practice. The successful candidate must be registered as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC (this is not a training position).

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the fertility service you will be expected to work unsupervised with all clinical procedures, organising your own workload, supervising others, and be accountable to the Senior embryologists and lead Clinician for the Fertility Service.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • To contribute to all aspects of the clinical embryology laboratory treatments and assist with diagnostic andrology procedures as required.
  • To have an active role in clinical management of patients.
  • To analyse and assist in optimising laboratory processes.
  • To have responsibility for managing specific elements of the clinical services within an embryology and andrology laboratory.
  • Contribute to the induction and training of junior staff  within the Fertility Centre to ensure conformity of service provision and standards.
  • Contribute to the provision of clinical liaison in support of analytical service by laboratory reports and providing guidance to clinicians on selection, performance and interpretation of relevant investigations.
  • To assist with laboratory policies and procedures and local Trust policies and procedures (if required), to ensure that clinical services are delivered as specified, in line with Clinical Governance and Quality Management.
  • Requirement to work weekend, on-call and out of hours work on a rotational basis.
