Job overview

To provide Clinical Audit support to the Clinical teams within the Trust. Providing written audit reports and maintaining the audit database. Reporting data to Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be required to analyse audit data when compiling reports and when more than one option is available
  • The post holder will plan and organise straightforward tasks some of which may be on going.
  • To develop links between Clinician and Clinical Audit Department to encourage participation in Clinical Audit.
  • To facilitate the design of clinical audits and ensure audit standards are based on the latest evidence locally agreed best practise. This includes collection, analyse, reporting and the development of action plans.
  • To assist and advise clinician/external agencies involved in National Audits and Confidential Enquires or in the development of care pathways.
  • To be involved in education and training programmes providing advice and assistance on clinical audit techniques
  • To maintain complete confidentiality of all information received throughout the course of work.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and agreed by the line manager.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Evidence of effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Clinical audit.
  • Evidence of advanced keyboard skills.
  • Evidence of ability to respond quickly to changing priorities, organising and prioritising own and team workload to meet deadlines
  • Evidence of ability to work without direct supervision within broad procedural guidelines.
  • Evidence of ability to make decisions within defined boundaries
  • Evidence of ability to work as part of a team.
  • Evidence of ability to develop systems to promote efficient and effective working within the team.
  • An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with hospital IT Systems to include PAS, Pathology and Radiology systems or similar.
  • Recent, relevant and significant experience in a clerical or secretarial role.
  • Experience of working with computer systems, to include Microsoft Office, in a working environment.
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining systems
  • Experience of working with staff at all levels.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • GCSE (grade C or above) in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Diploma or equivalent experience/qualification in audit, data analysis, health science or administration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
