The Cardiology and Respiratory Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust has a vacancy for an enthusiastic and flexible person looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied.
You will assist the Cardio Respiratory Managers in the provision of an efficient and cost effective service to the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will support the manager in ensuring compliance with and maintenance of professional standards at local and national level. To help co-ordinate the Respiratory clinic.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a person with excellent clerical skills, a team player with a flexible approach to working. A good telephone manner is essential. You should be able to demonstrate good keyboard skills and have the ability to communicate effectively on any level.
You will be responsible for clerical support for patients attending Pulmonary Function tests, Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic, Open Access Heart Failure Clinic, and Pacemaker Follow up clinic, Tilt Table Tests, Transoesophageal Echo, etc.
You will provide clerical support for a wide range of departmental tasks including appointing, reception cover, data entry, filing, answering telephone calls and dealing with patients attending the department
You will also be required to cover annual leave and sickness cross site RPH, CDH and CDC (Healthport).
We are willing to be flexible as to how the hours will be split over the working week.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, prioritise workload on a daily basis and act on own initiative and be flexible.
Liaise in person and via telephone with Cardio-Respiratory colleagues, multidisciplinary staff, General Practitioners and patients.
To participate in cross-site working and training, if required.
Assist in the development and effective implementation of the Open Access clinics and all Cardio Respiratory clerical services across the Trust.
To adhere to existing and implement upgraded policies in line with department guidelines, Trust policy and associated governing bodies.
To assist in the preparation of statistical, financial and clinical records for the Cardio Respiratory Department and within the Trust as required.
To be accountable for own actions and those of others.
To follow departmental and Trust guidelines with regards to policies and procedures.
To promote the Cardio Respiratory service within the context of the Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.
To implement audit standards for Cardio Respiratory services.
Maintain a safe environment for patients and colleagues in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Ensure all office equipment is maintained within local and statutory requirements.
Support the aims and vision of the Trust.
