A unique opportunity has arisen to work with our Walk-in-Centre Teams based in North Central Division for a 12 month fixed term contract. Working in conjunction with the CLCH Academy we are committed to developing and growing our workforce to deliver the highest possible standards of care in the Urgent Care Departments.

We are looking for an experienced emergency nurse practitioner or paramedic who is enthusiastic about teaching and supporting staff to grow their career within this setting. The role is crucial in enabling staff to deliver high quality care and there is a clear focus on working alongside staff in the clinical areas.

We are looking to recruit a Practice Educator to work closely with the Clinical Leads at the CLCH Walk-in sites, based in North Central Division.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of our dynamic leadership team, working closely with the both the service operational leads and the CLCH Academy to coordinate and embed learning and development ensuring that staff are competent and capable to undertake their roles. Excellent clinical, leadership, teaching and communication skills are essential along with the ability to work in an innovative way to support and develop the workforce.

Using your clinical expertise, you will drive the service to provide high standards of care and be an ambassador for practice development.

As a practice educator you will be expected to:

  • To act as a role model and demonstrate expertise in delivering evidence-based practice
  • Facilitate the creation of a positive learning environment in the workplace where staff development at all levels is encouraged and supported
  • Facilitate the education and continuing professional development for all levels of registered and non-registered nursing staff within the UCC Teams
  • Work alongside staff in individual teams undertaking a key role in practice development
  • Translate Academy priorities such as changes in nursing standards, new clinical roles such as Apprenticeships into their designated service

Essential

  • Significant senior experience within UCC services adult and children
  • Previous experience in practice development
  • Experience in taking forward clinical and service change
  • Experience of working in a changing and uncertain environment
  • Experience of delivering on development initiatives and leading change with individuals and teams.
  • Experience of working with staff and stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of using evidence to inform best practice
  • Experience of engaging with patients, the public and stakeholders
  • Experience of report writing and presentation

Desirable

  • Project management qualification

  • Skills in articulating a vision to staff working at different levels
  • Knowledge of the NHS agenda of how it impacts on service delivery

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Paramedic
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner qualification or equivalence
  • NMP with minimum 3 years’ experience with evidence of actively prescribing within UCC/ Walk-in-Centre setting
  • Designated Prescribing Practitioner
  • Advanced Physical assessment module
  • Minor injuries and illness module
  • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent
  • Clinical Leadership training
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development

Desirable

  • Teaching/assessing recognised qualification
  • Qualified PNA
