Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.

Skills
Essential
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
- HCPC licence to practise
- Registered member of RCSLT
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses
Desirable
- Any as related to children
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience at undergraduate and post-graduate level
- Working with parents/carers/teachers in different settings
- Working within the National Curriculum and SEND procedures
- Multi-disciplinary working and skillsharing
Desirable
- Working with preschool/school aged children
- Working within a multi-cultural setting
- Working with children with special needs
- Working with a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant
Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Knowledge of managing a general paediatric caseload to a clinically competent standard (
- Knowledge of a range of intervention approaches with a paediatric caseload, including those used in education settings and when working with parents and other professionals
- Knowledge of Education System, acts and directives, including the Children & Families Act, National Curriculum, and the Code of Practice
- Knowledge of Makaton and other signing systems relevant to the clinical area
- Knowledge of safeguarding children & child protection
Desirable
- Knowledge of bilingualism and multicultural issues
- Knowledge of preventative approaches
- Knowledge of awareness of national policies and procedures in relation to working with preschool and school aged children
