Children Occupational Therapist - Band 5
Childrens Therapy Services are based in the Crystal Children's Development Centre and the band 5 role will involve working from this clinic area with a variety of professionals including other AHPs and medical teams.
To work across health and social services settings combining the traditional roles of both health and social services occupational therapists as part of an integrated occupational therapy service for children, young people and their families.
To provide assessment and interventions for children and families in Croydon, this will be delivered across a specialist, targeted and universal level. The Occupational Therapist would be working with other health professionals and colleagues working with external agencies, within the scope of their own skills and knowledge.
Manual Car driver is mandatory for this post as it community based.

Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality standard of occupational therapy assessment, management, treatment and advice for a caseload of children with a wide range of developmental difficulties and/or disabilities, some of whom may have complex or multiple pathologies.
To work as an autonomous practitioner complying with the standards set by the Health & Care Professions Council, Royal College of Occupational Therapy, Croydon Health Services and the department, thereby being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.

Essential
- Understanding of the role of a Children’s Occupational Therapist
- Awareness of clinical governance and children’s safeguarding agenda and guidance
- Uses clinical reasoning and reflective skills to improve individual practice
Desirable
- Knowledge of standardised assessment and outcome measures
- Demonstrates an understanding and application of national guidelines / legislation
Additional
Essential
- Manual Drivers Licence - valid in the UK

Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children at under-graduate or post-graduate level, or in another relevant setting

- Previous Band 5 experience in a relevant setting
- Experience working with children with ASD, ADHD and Cerebral Palsy
- Previous community experience

- Self-management skills e.g. time management and organisational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- computer skills including data entry, use of word processing

Education and Qualifications

- BSc, MSc or diploma in OT
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD

- Relevant postgraduate training including relevant paediatric training
