Tri-Borough Under 5’s Pathway is a trust wide specialist team that offers therapeutic support to families during the third trimester of pregnancy or with infants, toddlers or children under the age of five years old. It is part of an Early Years provision that goes from universal offer to specialist interventions. The service works in partnership with all the services involved with families who are pregnant or have an infant/young child under the age of 5.
This service is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, psychotherapists, speech and language therapist, health visitor, assistant psychologist, trainees and practitioners trained in parent-infant relational therapies. While this role is primarily based in Barnet, we work flexibly across the tri borough (Enfield and Haringey) and travel throughout the borough is expected to meet the needs of the service users.
Main duties of the job
- To provide highly specialised assessment and formulation to parents and their infants and/or child under the age of 5.
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
- Competent in use of relevant screening and assessment tools
- Formulate / offer / deliver and review psycho-social interventions (including 1:1 therapy and group programs)
- Deliver individualised evidence-based care packages where indicated
- Assist in the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways and NICE and DH guidance
- Responsible for the initial assessment process, as well as observation and the ongoing comprehensive and specialist assessment, providing accurate and timely feedback.
- To provide parent infant supervision where required and to support the growing knowledge and skills regarding infant mental health across the early years system.

Essential
- Knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of assessment and intervention
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies with children, young people and families
Desirable
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
- Skills in undertaking Quality Improvement projects and service evaluation
Experience/ Knowledge
Essential
- Interest and/or experience of working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties in mental health services, including the application of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures in this area.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
- Experience of specialist assessment and intervention of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
- Experience with routine outcome monitoring.
- Experience of providing evidence based psychological interventions
- Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress, both directly with patients and indirectly in their network.

Qualifications/ Registrations
Essential
- Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent)
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC),

- Supervision training
- Further training in a specialized area of psychological practice through formal post- doctoral training (diploma or equivalent)
