Chief Cardiac Physiologist – Arrhythmia

An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team as a Chief Cardiac Physiologist/Scientist in the arrhythmia team. You should be able to work independently in complex devices and have extensive knowledge and clinical experience in electrophysiology procedures. Skills in brady/tachy device troubleshooting, confidence in programming changes and ability to perform device implantation is required along with the ability to run an electrophysiology case.

You should have an interest and enthusiasm for transferring their skills to the paediatric setting working alongside other specialists to provide a comprehensive and high-quality service.

A contribution to other areas within the service will be required when the need dictates: including the cardiac catheter lab, exercise testing and other ambulatory investigations.

A 10% recruitment and retention premium is included for this post

Main duties of the job

• Highly specialist knowledge in cardiac physiology, with experience or interest in paediatric cardiology and congenital heart disease
• To be independent in performing all types of cardiac device implants and follow-up including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT and implantable loop recorders. This includes problem solving, troubleshooting, reprogramming, and knowing when to raise issues with medical team. Independent practise in both endocardial and epicardial implants is required as well as training junior member of staff
• Be part of the remote monitoring service including ensuring all patients are adequately followed up and contacting disconnected monitors.
• Perform, analyse, interpret, and report a full range of invasive and non-invasive complex cardiac investigations
• To have knowledge of the procedures we perform in the cardiac catheter lab including both left and right heart diagnostics and interventional procedures. Experience in this area in desirable
• To take responsibility for monitoring own performance and professional development to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient, and effective service in line with current trends and research.
• To develop and train other members of staff, including physiologists, doctors, and nurses on clinical aspects of the role – this includes electrophysiology, devices, cath lab and ambulatory services
• Liaise with external companies to ensure smooth delivery of the service and organise external training for the team
