Main duties of the job

As a chef at Badby Park, you will work alongside a committed team, crafting meals for service users, staff, and visitors. The role involves 37.5 hours a week and requires a passion for creating daily diverse meals, while also diving into food preparation, providing guidance, and training your peers. You will cater for buzzing events and special occasions, infusing your flair into occasions such as World Food Day, Christmas, and Easter. As a Chef you will be:

  • Supporting the Head Chef for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  • Preparing, planning and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous services manner.
  • Preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets.
  • Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
  • Adhering strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation
  • Assisting the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality and compliment healthy eating guidelines.
  • Correctly filing of all paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) i.e. Fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • To be 18 years or older
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
  • Have a basic understanding of IDDSI Framework
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Previous experience in delivering a service on mass
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience

Where you will be working:

Location: Badby Road West, Daventry, Northamptonshire, NN11 4NH

You will be working alongside the clinical teams at Badby Park to care for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brain and spinal cord injuries, where you will deliver person-centred care where each individual is at the heart of everything you do.

This specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and complex care service which boasts extensive facilities that cater for specific needs of the residents that is set in acres of stunning countryside on the outskirts of Daventry.

Badby Park is a grand manor house steeped in history with stunning views, excellent facilities and a tranquil setting. Good road links makes it easily commutable from Daventry, Rugby, Northampton and Banbury.

Essential

  • To be successful in this role, you'll need to be 18 years or older. Possessing a GCSE or equivalent in English is required, and City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 in Basic Food Preparation Cooking or equivalent qualifications. Basic Food Hygiene is essential while Intermediate Food Hygiene is desirable. A basic understanding of the IDDSI Framework is necessary, along with previous experience in similar settings and delivering services en masse. Experience in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budgeting is also needed.
