The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced RMN/RNLD Charge Nurse to join the Directorate of Forensic Mental Health. The service provides inpatient care within medium and low secure settings, supporting individuals with mental disorders or learning disabilities. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, coordinate specialist nursing care, and help deliver a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment focused on rehabilitation and recovery.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Permanent, Full-time

Shift Pattern - Long day shift pattern

Base location - Rowanbank Clinic

Key responsibilities:

• Provide clinical leadership and line management for a nursing staff team.
• Coordinate and oversee the delivery of specialist nursing care and treatment.
• Support patients with mental disorders or learning disabilities who have demonstrated serious offending behaviour or present significant risks to themselves or others.
• Contribute to risk assessment, risk reduction, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
• Promote effective team working and collaborative practice.
• Ensure safe, effective, and high-quality clinical care within the designated area of responsibility.
• Contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives and service developments.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RNLD) qualification.
• Relevant experience in forensic mental health, secure services, or a related specialist area.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management practices.
• Understanding of rehabilitation and recovery-focused care.
• Experience of coordinating complex care and treatment plans.
• Leadership and staff management skills.
• Ability to promote safe and effective clinical practice within a multidisciplinary team environment.
