Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries. The role involves assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals, serving service users, staff, and visitors, maintaining storage procedures, ensuring cleanliness in all areas, and liaising with the wider team regarding dietary and planned meals. Previous experience is not essential, and applications from individuals with no experience are welcomed, as full training will be provided. Our kitchen operates between 7am until 5pm there are 3 shifts which is 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm and 9am-5pm. The Catering Assistant will be mostly needed for 7am-3pm and two weekends per month 9am-3pm which will enable you get the hours back as time owed. 37.5 hours per week.

Previous experience is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with no experience, as full training will be provided.

As a Catering Assistant you will be:

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Location: Rhodes Wood Hospital. Shepherds Way, Hatfield AL9 6NN

Join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital providing care for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders who require residential care, working on tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person.

There is also an on-site Ofsted Registered school to support young people continue with their education while in hospital. Rhodes Wood Hospital is located on the outskirts of Hatfield, which is easily reachable by car.
