Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents living with advanced dementia, complex behavioural needs and associated physical health conditions. The Care Assistant will promote dignity, independence, wellbeing and quality of life while ensuring residents remain safe, comfortable and respected at all times. The role requires compassion, resilience, patience and a commitment to supporting individuals who may display distressed behaviours, communication difficulties, resistance to care, wandering, confusion, anxiety or emotional distress.

Job responsibilities

1

Provide personal care including washing, dressing, grooming, continence care and support with eating and drinking.

Assist with mobility, transfers and repositioning in line with care plans and moving and handling procedures.

Deliver person-centred dementia care tailored to individual needs, preferences and life history.

4

Support residents experiencing confusion, anxiety, distress or behaviours that challenge using appropriate communication techniques.

Observe and report changes in residents physical health, mood, behaviour and wellbeing.

Maintain accurate records and complete documentation as required.

7

Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, infection control and health and safety procedures at all times.

Support medication administration where trained and authorised and report

concerns appropriately.

9

Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

10

Encourage meaningful activities, social engagement and independence wherever possible.

Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and assist with domestic duties as required.
