We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic cardiac nurse to join our team with a focus on secondary prevention in cardiovascular care.  The ideal candidate will be able to organise and prioritise their own workload, deliver excellent patient care, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be computer literate.

Main duties of the job

  • Triage referrals from various establishments, wards, CAU/SDEC, tertiary centres and GP’s
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and staff
  • Deliver patient education during inpatient stay, involve relatives/carers if appropriate
  • Participate in outpatient clinics, assessing the patients clinical condition and identifying individual risk factors. Provide education and guidance in accordance with the patients’ needs
  • Be responsible for a caseload of patients, including implementing and monitoring the patient’s management plan
  • Maintain clinical competency as required to meet the needs of patient caseload
  • Be competent to analyse the findings of investigations and diagnostic testing and act in the best interest of the patient, for example – echocardiograms, ECG’s, blood tests etc
  • Work closely with consultant cardiologists discussing individual cases and taking advice when necessary
  • Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Code of Conduct as well as conforming to Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Refer to different specialities as needed
