We are seeking a suitably qualified Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly service. The successful candidate can be a newly qualified Cardiac Physiologist.

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a fantastic department cross-site.  A really dynamic role for a cardiac physiologist to cover holter tape analysis, ETT,  assisting DSEs/TSEs,  and Tilt table testing .

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance of the cardiology diagnostic team the post holder will be/become proficient and be able to work unsupervised, providing a quality service for patients requiring non-invasive and invasive cardiology investigative procedures. The post holder will also be responsible for assessing patients’ needs whilst undergoing investigative procedures and providing appropriate level of care required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communication/Relationships 1. To be responsible for establishing and maintaining good communication with all staff, patients and their carers.  2. To highlight areas of concern to the Senior Chief physiologist.  3. To be proactive and help the team and the service leads with possible workplace improvements.  4. To demonstrate problem solving skill, supporting patients with queries that may arise.  5. To deal politely, positively and in a professional manner, and according to directorate policy with queries by patients and hospital staff. 6. To perform Tilt Testing under supervision until competent , ensuring results formatted for cardiologist reporting 7. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the checking and safe use the department’s diagnostic equipment and associated computer hardware that they are using and that any faults are reported promptly

  • To be competent in basic Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation technique and following  appropriate training be proficient in Intermediate Life Support. Initiate treatment and support Medical Staff during cardiac Resuscitation.

Managerial and Training. 1. To report equipment and environmental problems to the Chief Technician. 2. Assist with the process of adequately stocking the department; ensuring orders of supplies and stock are made in line with trust guidelines.  3. To assist with research studies, audits and quality initiatives as appropriate. 4. To assist with departmental administration, including but not limited to booking appointments, and responding to patient queries. 5. To assist and support the lead physiologist/manager with the collection of departmental statistics. Set up local databases to assist with this as required. 6. To respond to patient and staff complaints in accordance with Trust protocol. 7. To attend meetings as directed and feedback information as appropriate 8. To assist with the process of formulating new policies and procedures relating to service provision and comply with Trust Policies and Procedure

  • Analyse and read Blood pressure and ECG Tapes
  • Perform Stress test unsupervised
  • Perform and Read ECG unsupervised

Desirable

  • Cath _lab experience
  • Perform Tilt testing
  • Pacing knowledge

Skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently within the role limitations and identify priorities
  • Overall knowledge of caring for patients with cardiac disorders
  • Computer literate
