The Role

This role will be to establish, manage and coordinate the delivery of a programme of strategic development for cancer services across care settings with a collaboration of health, local authority and third sector. The post holder will have responsibility for a implementing a programme of continuous improvement of cancer services aligned to the NHS Lanarkshire Cancer Strategy. You will lead on a programme of improvement work to address performance and service issues to transform cancer services and after care within Lanarkshire in collaboration with partners from local authority and third sector. The post holder will advise and support local clinical management teams and service providers, enabling them to fully participate in a collaborative approach to the delivery and improvement of cancer services. Performance and associated key indicators will be monitored and evaluated by the post holder in order to identify when additional intervention and support is required to implement the NHSL Cancer Strategy. Devise, deliver and facilitate multi-agency and multi-professional workshops

What we'll need you to bring

  • Graduate calibre with evidence of continued professional development. PG Qualification with 5 years senior experience in Management essential.
  • NHS experience within Cancer services required with evidence of managing change within a complex organisation. Clinical Cancer experience required.
  • Extensive experience of High Level Leadership and management of projects, a portfolio approach to working, experience of working with and influencing teams
  • Able to forge positive relationships and work effectively with multi-professional teams and across organisational boundaries.
  • Proven track record of working in a senior position with key stakeholder groups, across multi-professional groups and across statutory and voluntary sector agencies.
  • Demonstrable Project Management skills with a proven track record of developing high level projects from inception and delivering to objectives within timescales.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and people skills, including facilitation.
  • Understanding of the theory and practice of service improvement and patient process redesign methods and how to apply them in multi professional and partnership settings.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint/Outlook and Microsoft Project.

It would be great if you also have

  • PRINCE 2 qualification or equivalent
  • Lean Change Agent training of ScIL training
  • Evidence of experience of successful implementation of cancer strategy
  • Experience of patient / public involvement in enhancing peoples’ experiences of cancer care.
  • Demonstrable experience and success in influencing policy-makers, managers and practitioners to achieve service changes beneficial to population health.
  • Experience of strategy development and implementation
  • Knowledge of current initiatives and developments relevant to cancer
  • Knowledge and experience of improving population health including health inequalities, cancer and issues relating to health improvement in Scotland
  • Significant experience and knowledge of health service management including change management and service/workforce redesign acquired through training and experience
  • Knowledge of planning, operational processes and systems
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively and to prioritise work programmes in the face of competing demands.
  • Ability to collaborate and constructively with internal and external partners to facilitate effective partnership working, such as third sector
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets extracting key information and communicating this effectively
  • High level Change Management skills including Improvement Methodology
  • Ability to handle complex work without supervision
  • Able to forge positive relationships and work effectively with multi-professional teams and across organisational
  • boundaries
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
  • Effective communicator
  • IT literate
