Our Children and Young People’s CAMHS Eating Disorder Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Mental Health Practitioner to work with children and young people with eating disorders, and their families. We are a specialist multi-disciplinary eating disorders service for young people and their families, providing evidence-based treatment approaches in clinics across the Trust. We are a compassionate, supportive team, committed to empowering young people and their families so that they can keep well in the community.

The CAMHS Eating Disorders Service is a well-established service, working alongside staff in our CPFT Community CAMHS teams and working closely with our local day programme and local acute paediatric services.

We are seeking to appoint a CAMHS Practitioner with a strong interest in working with young people with eating disorders and their families and a commitment to delivering specialist assessments and manualised interventions such as family therapy for eating disorders and CBT-E.

The postholder will work in clinics settings and as part of our home support pathway.

Main duties of the job

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. This post gives the opportunity to develop skills in this area, working within an experienced team. The post-holder will be offered the opportunity for training in family therapy for eating disorders and continued professional development.

Our service has a strong commitment to professional development through individual supervision, training, appraisal and an ethos of close multi-disciplinary working.

The post is a permanent role and full-time hours. We will also consider part time hours. The applicant will need to be able to travel to sites across the county.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Work as an active integral member of the CAMHS eating disorders team. 2. Assist in the assessment of children and young people, contributing to formulations and decisions regarding treatment options, and ensuring the fullest possible involvement from children, young people and families. 3. Be able to use specialist knowledge to make decisions about a child or young people, families and carers. 4. Where required and clinically justified, give advice and training to children, young people, families and carers. 5. To be proactive in maintaining high clinical standards and to monitor own performance against agreed standards and policies. 6. To use routine outcome monitoring to inform clinical practice through supervision and care planning and to participate in the team’s use of routine outcome monitoring to inform service design across CAMHS. 7. Provide a range of direct work and participate in the delivery of evidence-based therapeutic programmes particularly CBT-E and family-based approaches on both an individual and group basis to children, young people and families. 8. The post will include some dedicated time working in the Home Support Pathway. The Home Support Pathway is integrated within the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service and provide intensive at home support to prevent hospital admission. 9. To maintain accurate, clear and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and CPFT guidelines on record keeping and confidentiality. 10. To participate in clinical effectiveness activities, clinical and professional forums and report on these.
