Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Booking Administrator to join our friendly and busy team at the Ely Community Diagnostic Centre, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
As a Booking Administrator, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of diagnostic services, helping patients access the tests and investigations they need in a timely and efficient manner.
Working as part of our administration team, you will be responsible for coordinating and booking patient appointments across a range of diagnostic services, including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray and other specialist investigations. You will also support the day-to-day running of the centre, responding to patient enquiries, managing referrals and providing reception cover when required.
Community Diagnostic Centres are an exciting and expanding part of the NHS's long-term plans to transform diagnostic services, bringing essential tests and investigations closer to patient’s homes, improving access to care and helping to reduce waiting times. As a relatively new and developing service, Ely CDC offers an opportunity to be part of this transformation, contributing to the growth and development of services that make a real difference to our local communities and the NHS.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing service that is helping to bring essential NHS diagnostic investigations closer to patients' homes.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an efficient, accurate and patient-focused administrative service, supporting the day-to-day delivery of diagnostic services at Ely Community Diagnostic Centre.
Key responsibilities will include:
Booking, rescheduling and cancelling patient appointments across a range of diagnostic services, ensuring appointments are managed in line with departmental procedures and waiting time targets. Managing incoming referrals and waiting lists, ensuring patients are booked appropriately and within required timescales. Monitoring appointment availability and working proactively to minimise unused capacity, helping the department make the best use of its diagnostic resources. Responding to patient enquiries by telephone and in person, providing clear and helpful information regarding appointments and investigations. Providing reception cover, including welcoming patients, checking them in for appointments and supporting the smooth running of clinics. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic patient administration systems, including Epic. Liaising with clinical teams, colleagues and other departments to resolve booking queries and support effective patient pathways. Identifying and escalating booking issues, capacity concerns and potential delays to patient care. Supporting the achievement of departmental performance standards and NHS waiting time targets.
