An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Blood Sciences Service Manager to join Derbyshire Pathology and play a key leadership role in the delivery and development of high-quality diagnostic services across our network.
Derbyshire Pathology provides a comprehensive range of pathology services across both University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and . Serving a population of over one million people, the network is committed to delivering safe, effective and sustainable diagnostic services that support excellent patient care.
The Blood Sciences Service Manager will work collaboratively supporting the delivery of clinical, operational, workforce and financial objectives in close partnership with Technical Specialist Managers, Site Leads, Clinical Leads and the Senior Management Team to ensure the effective management, development and continuous improvement of Blood Sciences services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader with strong operational management experience in blood sciences who is passionate about service improvement, workforce development and delivering outstanding healthcare services.
Main duties of the job
The Blood Sciences Service Manager will be responsible for providing operational leadership and management support across designated pathology services within Derbyshire Pathology.
The post holder will:
- Have HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist and significant experience in a senior supervisory role
- Support the planning, organisation and delivery of high-quality pathology services across multiple sites.
- Build strong and effective collaborative relationships with the management team, service users, staff and multi-professional agencies
- Lead and coordinate service improvement and transformation initiatives to improve productivity, quality and patient outcomes.
- Monitor, analyse and report on key performance indicators, ensuring services meet contractual, regulatory and operational requirements.
- Be able to work both assertively and with awareness of one’s limitations.
- Compassion – exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and service users, remaining sensitive and empathetic
- Professional and service user focused approach with inspirational skills
- Ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
