Job overview

Glangwili General Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic radiographer to join the CT/MRI team on a Bank Contract, hours as and when required. We have a busy General, CT and MRI department running two CT scanners and one MRI scanner.

The General Department utilises 2 Samsung Digital rooms, 4 Samsung DR mobiles and 4 Phillips Image Intensifiers. One of the CT scanners was installed (Canon Aquilion Prism) thanks to funding from Welsh Government. The main CT suite is modern and patient friendly, with a cannulation and waiting area. The CT department undertakes all examinations including a weekly CT Coronary Angiography list. MRI has a weekly paediatric general anaesthetic list.

Applicants will possess BSc / DCR(R) in Diagnostic Radiography, HCPC registration and appropriate experience within general radiography.

Main duties of the job

Glangwili General Hospital is a busy district general hospital situated in Carmarthenshire in West Wales. The department is well equipped with a GE 750 HD CT scanner and a Canon Aquilion Prism installed in Jan 22.

The department has a Siemens Avanto 1.5T MRI scanner. The general department has two Samsung DR rooms, all mobile equipment is Samsung digital and a selection of Philips II's. A Siemens Artis Zee fluoroscopy room facilitates ERCPs, barium studies, pacings and HSG's. There is a large ultrasound department and a busy interventional radiology service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Able to travel between sites in a timely manner to support service delivery needs as required
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the service, which may require working unsocial hours, weekend work, or on-call systems

Experience

Essential

  • Experienced in delivering a broad range of high quality imaging examinations and procedures over a variety of imaging modalities.
  • Experience of using radiology IT and PACS systems to record and review patient specific information.
  • Experienced in using a variety of techniques to motivate and encourage patients and trainees.

Language Skills

Desirable

  • Welsh Language Skills levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

  • BSc Diagnostic Imaging (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registered Diagnostic Radiographer
  • Significant post graduate experience of working independently as a diagnostic radiographer
  • Understanding of the role of a Band 6 diagnostic radiographer, and how this differs to that of a Band 5 position

Desirable

  • CPD portfolio
