Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to): Assist the pharmacy team in providing an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients, working within your level of competence Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines Undertake routine delegated activities accurately and in line with current legislation, professional standards, and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures Prepare yourself, equipment, materials, and medicines appropriately for specific tasks Accurately dispense medicines according to prescriptions, ensuring all items are checked by a pharmacist Prepare small batches of prepacked and/or overlabelled medicines as required, ensuring pharmacist verification Accurately record data and information relating to activities and ensure this is passed to the appropriate team member or filed correctly Identify and report any significant changes within the pharmacy department or service that may impact patient health and wellbeing

At Spire Alexandra Hospital, we offer a comprehensive range of treatments to patients in Medway and the surrounding areas of Kent and the Southeast. Our private hospital has two extensively equipped operating theatres, backed up by an extended recovery unit with 24-hour support. This is an ad hoc, bank role working on an "as and when required" basis. You will support staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for annual leave, sickness, and other peak times throughout the year. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
Assist the pharmacy team in providing an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients, working within your level of competence
Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines
Undertake routine delegated activities accurately and in line with current legislation, professional standards, and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures
Prepare yourself, equipment, materials, and medicines appropriately for specific tasks
Accurately dispense medicines according to prescriptions, ensuring all items are checked by a pharmacist
Prepare small batches of prepacked and/or overlabelled medicines as required, ensuring pharmacist verification
Accurately record data and information relating to activities and ensure this is passed to the appropriate team member or filed correctly

Previous experience within a pharmacy department (hospital or community)
Strong teamworking skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly numerate and literate
Administrative experience involving checking and monitoring processes
Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations in a professional and supportive manner
