Main duties of the job
- To manage own diary to ensure an appropriate balance of clinical responsibility along with the ability to be flexible when dealing with emergencies
- To take responsibility for urgent referrals and other clinical telephone queries when necessary.
- To arrange annual leave in conjunction with other team members, in line with local and Trust policies.
- To work co- operatively with colleagues regarding equipment resources.

- To assist in the planning of junior staff, students and assistants timetables and deputise for the band 7 in organisational duties.

- To carry out all necessary administration involved in ordering equipment within budget limits. To know the process involved when ordering from suppliers, being able to query and trace orders through the system.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist in planning and providing a high quality service for service users, in conjunction with the service manager and senior therapists.
- To be responsible for managing own case load and prioritising as appropriate.
- Depending on complexity of client need and caseload, take responsibility for designated caseload of patients to negotiate, agree and plan interventions.
- To keep up to date comprehensive records/reports, which are clear and concise for the client’s records and which comply with quality standards of Trust/Service policies and meet legal requirements.
- To monitor the effectiveness of intervention through goal setting, outcome measures and evaluation of practice.
- To apply good clinical reasoning skills in order to facilitate safe, timely discharge for clients requiring OT intervention
- To monitor and review the client’s progress to ensure a consistent, equitable, high quality service, and to change intervention to meet clinical need as necessary.
- To work with clients and carers to assist them in making decisions regarding their needs by providing relevant information and advice.
- To liaise with multidisciplinary team and use clinical judgement, to plan and carry out Access, Home and Follow up visits (to patient’s home) depending on clients needs.
- To provide a high standard of intervention for clients of all ages (involving carers where appropriate) and carrying out assessments in client’s homes, residential care establishments, hospitals and other locations as appropriate.
- To follow departmental procedures for the completion of risk assessments when necessary.
- To assess, advise and provide appropriate equipment. To take responsibility for demonstrating safe equipment use and training for clients and carers. (Complying with moving and handling regulations).
- To have knowledge of Departments’ policy of dealing with decontamination and safe handling of contaminated equipment. To ensure that assessment equipment is in good condition at all times (complying with infection control procedures).
