ABOUT THE ROLE As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the nursing team in the delivery of patient-centred care across the ward environment. You'll assist with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical duties, helping patients maintain their comfort, dignity and independence while contributing to the smooth running of the department. This is a bank role, meaning you have the flexibility to pick up available shifts when it suits you.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will:
- Welcome and support patients and visitors within the ward environment.
- Assist patients with personal care needs including hygiene, dressing and nutrition.
- Monitor and record observations including weight, pulse, temperature and blood pressure.
- Undertake urine testing and escalate concerns to a Registered Nurse.
- Support patient mobility using appropriate moving and handling techniques.
- Assist with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, safe and organised ward environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
- Support stock management and general ward administration duties.
- Promote patient dignity, independence and wellbeing at all times.
About us
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards further qualifications.
- Experience caring for others in a health, care or support setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional and compassionate approach to patient care.
- The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work in a busy environment.
- A flexible and positive attitude with a commitment to delivering high quality care.
