Bank Children’s Community Haemoglobinopathy Nurse Band 6 Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) provides specialist community services for children and adults living with sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. Following additional investment from NHS England to enhance Sickle Cell Community Services across North West London, we are seeking a Bank Children’s Community Haemoglobinopathy Nurse to join our expanding team on a temporary basis.

This developing service supports children with Sickle Cell Disease across the boroughs of Ealing and Hillingdon, alongside our established services in Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, and Hammersmith & Fulham.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse (Child) with experience in children’s nursing who is interested in developing specialist knowledge in haemoglobinopathy care. Previous experience within this specialty is not essential, as full training and support will be provided to help you develop the skills and knowledge required for the role.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide community nursing care and counselling for people with sickle cell, thalassaemia and other haemoglobinopathies, supporting them in life-long self-care.
  • The post holder will provide resources for children, parents, primary care staff, schools and education colleagues, as well as other agencies, providing specialised training and education to increase understanding and awareness of haemoglobinopathies.
  • To provide screening and counselling to identify haemoglobinopathy status for clients, including antenatal screening, following training.
  • To liaise with specialist medical and nursing provision provided primarily by Imperial at St Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospital sites.
