Main duties of the job

The role involves providing high-quality care to children both within the community and in their own homes. Carers will support children and their families, ensuring they receive the care they deserve in a comfortable environment. This role requires maintaining a flexible approach to duties as responsibilities may adapt to meet the evolving needs of the children. Carers will provide safe, effective care and help maintain a stimulating environment. They are expected to maintain competencies in clinical skills, recognise safeguarding concerns, and engage in a supportive team environment, also focusing on continuous professional development. HCRG Care Group is seeking a BankCommunity Carer to assist in providing high-quality care to children with complex medical needs within the community and in their own homes.

You will be based at one of our Surrey-wide office hubs, working out in the community, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs.

• Provide safe, effective care to children in their homes and the community, as delegated by the Named Nurse.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate procedures.
• Maintain competencies in specific clinical skills and be familiar with emergency procedures, including escalation and resuscitation when needed.
• Support childrens development in partnership with families and the team across various settings.
• Help maintain a safe, stimulating environment and record the childs condition, taking appropriate action.
• Organize daily activities and attend training and supervision sessions.
• Complete the HCRG Care Certificate within 3 months (if required) and stay updated with relevant training.
• Follow infection control and health & safety policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
• Communicate effectively, especially in situations with communication barriers, and liaise with the childs care team.
• Participate in team meetings, maintain accurate records, and support colleagues by sharing information and addressing concerns.

Schedule:

• 24/7 service with night shifts across the year, including weekends.

Essential

• Understanding the impact of providing/receiving care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families
• Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings.
• Willingness to work towards experienced to teach part of Competency Framework
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to relate to children.

Desirable

• NVQ 3 in health or social care or recognised nursery nurse qualification
• GCSE in Maths and English
• British Sign Language level 1
• Makaton
• Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependency
• Minimum of 1yr experience working with children with complex health needs
• Minimum of 1yr working with children in other setting, e.g. nursery, respite service

Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver
