You will be responsible for maintaining clinical quality, supporting staff development, managing resources, and driving service improvements. The role involves visible leadership, active participation in Trust and departmental meetings, and a strong focus on patient safety, governance, and compliance with national guidelines.

You will also play a key part in change management, performance review, and upholding our Trust’s commitment to equality, diversity, and sustainability.

We are looking for a Registered Adult Nurse with Emergency Care experience at Band 7 or above, proven leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • Mentoring and role modelling the development of staffing in leading all the different areas of the emergency department, by show casing and setting the standard.

  • Clinical quality & productivity
  • To take part in the visible leadership programme.
  • Actively participate in Speciality meetings and other Trust meetings to ensure that professional issues are fully represented and considered.
  • Support department sisters/charge nurses to develop effective systems for deployment and rostering of staff and take an overview of nurse staffing deployment within the Service in partnership with speciality Matron
  • The Deputy Matron will support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurses in managing the flow of patients in their given area of responsibility, which will involve being on an escalation rota at times
