Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Provider Collaborative's Commissioning and Transformation Team. This role is predominantly working with our NHS Talking Therapies providers and Community Counselling offer.

This role will focus on increasing NHS Talking Therapies performance in line with planning and Autumn Statement ambitions, as well as improving service quality and driving consistency across providers working in the system.

The post holder will lead on strategy, planning, commissioning and performance management within a life course approach to mental health and will ideally demonstrate a level of subject matter expertise within NHS Talking Therapies and psychological treatment.

You will have responsibility for leading key elements of the Commissioning and Transformation teams workplan such as:

  • NHS Talking Therapies
  • Community Counselling
  • Psychological therapies pathways

The ideal candidate will work in a collaborative manner drawing upon diverse perspectives including those of people who use and deliver services. Most importantly they will be committed to supporting improvements in mental health across the population of Birmingham and Solihull.

Main duties of the job

  • Identifying and addressing key risks and areas of over/under performance in relation to mental health contracts • Ensuring that the value of joint commissioning is realised and understood by all key stakeholders. • Leading and supporting the implementation of key elements of the commissioning strategies for mental health. • Lead and supporting the business planning processes to ensure that the commissioning team has appropriate systems in place to respond effectively to key changes in policy. • Undertake specific pieces of scoping work within the commissioning team to inform planning and commissioning for the future. • The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service.  • The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.

The post holder will be expected to be on site across Birmingham and Solihull at least one day a week to attend team meetings and events.
