Job overview

You will work as an autonomous practitioner within the Emergency Department delivering all aspects of management and care to a wide range of patients with varying needs.   The overriding purpose of the role is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

You will be expected to work at both Queen’s and the King Georges site on the Tier 2 rota (ST3/4 level)

This post consists of on average 37.5 hours per week. We offer 27 days of annual leave + bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality clinical assessment and intervention and treatment for a caseload of a variety of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.  To work autonomously at an advanced clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making critical clinical decisions based on thorough clinical assessment and interpretation of diagnostic interventions and delivery of therapeutic interventions. To demonstrate sound clinical decision making and deliver expert care for a wide variety of patients presenting to the Emergency Department with undifferentiated diagnoses  To work within the four pillars of the ‘Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice’ through collaboration with clinical teams to meet the needs of patients; supporting the delivery and development of service, policy and procedures, and ensuring the maintenance of high quality care and clinical excellence. To provide clinical expertise, support and leadership within the ACP, medical, nursing and allied health teams. To support the corporate team in developing and delivering the Trust Advanced Practice strategy and vision.  To contribute to the delivery of training and education within the Emergency Department and maintain own professional development and competence.   To take opportunities to lead or contribute towards research and audit in the pursuit of the continued pathway towards clinical excellence.
