The post will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required:

To liaise with all key members of the Endourology Multidisciplinary Team.

To advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised Endourology patient care across professional boundaries.

To undertake nurse led clinics and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to Endourology patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.

To work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.

To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients within the Endourology CPG.

To contribute to training and education within specialist area.

Main duties of the job

Two exciting positions have arisen in our endourology and benign urology nursing teams as a band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). You will become part of team who drive, lead, and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice delivering care to patients in a high-volume centre.

The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, and role model to support and implement the CPG pathway, as well as working on quality improvement, implementation of national initiatives, service reconfiguration and new digitally enabled models of care.

There is an expectation that the post holder will be involved in service development, research, teaching, and education commitments, and will have a willingness to develop oneself and others.

The post holder will work closely to deliver the service with consultants, nurses, operational managers, administrators and patients.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post-registration experience in area of urology
  • Previous experience of research and audit
  • Proven evidence of improving the patient experience
  • Evidence of teaching junior members of staff.

Desirable

  • Undertaken nurse led clinics
  • Current experience of line management of staff
