We are looking for a motivated, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who can work well within a team, be innovative and lead by example through positive and visible leadership.

For this post, a strong clinical background is required to look after respiratory patients requiring non-invasive ventilation support and optiflow, and to be able to provide the care and management of patients with tracheostomies and chest drains is desirable to support the development of our junior nursing team and to ensure our patients receive a high standard of care.  Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must and previous respiratory/ventilation experience would be desirable, but not essential.

The post holder will be professionally accountable and maintain the standards of the professional practice as set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit dedicated and highly motivated individual who are passionate about providing high quality and compassionate care to our respiratory patients. We are looking for aspiring clinical leader who will demonstrate role modelling, empowerment, and support to our team. They will be responsible for ensuring safe and effective practice, enhancing patient experience, managing, and developing the team, undertaking clinical audit, supporting research on the unit, monitor and improve standards of care in the unit, work alongside the multidisciplinary team and be responsible for efficient and effective use of resources. Engages and actively involves the individual and, if appropriate, their family/carer, in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of treatment and/or care by using person-centred techniques to promote a culture of self-care and empowerment.

The Respiratory Unit has undergone several changes within the last year upgrading its equipment and infrastructure, meaning that adaptability to change is something the new applicant will be required to manage with the support of Medicine Division and Respiratory Specialty.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate previous substantive experience of working at a senior level displaying the motivation and skills to work with the current existing team in collaboration with senior nursing and clinical staff and organisational staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be full time 37.5 hours per work; with the aim of providing a seven day service alongside the team.
