You will be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of the coagulation section including but not limited to reagent and quality control monitoring, managing workloads and turnaround times, audits and document control. You will be required to become competent at performing the specialist assays that the laboratory repertoire encompasses including platelet aggregation, ELISA techniques and bethesda assays in addition to automated testing. You will also be expected to participate in projects to develop the service.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with the service management team and other Senior Biomedical Scientists within the department. In addition to this you will also work closely with the Haematology medical staff of the Haemophilia Centre.
You will be expected to train staff, perform appraisals and other HR/workforce duties and you should therefore have good communication and interpersonal skills. Currently the laboratory operates a 24/7 shift system and after appropriate training you will be expected to participate in the departmental shift system which attracts AfC enhanced payments.
