The duties and responsibilities of the post holder require service delivery in a wide range of clinical environments as well as to a diversity of patient presentations and will involve lone working in particular areas or specialities and at particular times.
The service is delivered on a shift basis, working 7:45am – 8pm 7 days a week. The post is a rotational radiographer post. Rotating through CT, MRI, and when required -x-ray. CT and MRI comprises of both static and mobile units. A wide variety of patients will be encountered and will include those exhibiting anti-social or threatening behaviour. Other influencing factors include the skills needed to provide patients or relatives with empathy, and emotional support for the bereaved, terminally ill, injured, traumatised, those involved in suspected Non Accidental Injury particularly the very young and the very old, or those altered by substance use/abuse.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities will include training, teaching and supervision of students, qualified junior staff and assistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needs in a motivational manner. Assisting in and managing, workflow and ensuring all data inputs are recorded for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes. Encouraging the highest professional and technical standards in all staff, using personal example and constructive supervision. Demonstrating partnership in professional development issues, maintaining a high level of technical and theoretical skills through personal CPD. Participating in the governance of the department in areas including risk management, health and safety, research and audit activities.
