Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Interventional Medicine team as Service Manager for Respiratory on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, who is able to engage their teams and instigate change and service development.

The successful candidate must also have previous managerial experience.

The  duties include ensuring the smooth running of the Respiratory service across both outpatient and ward settings, supporting overall efficiency. The post holder will directly manage the Band 6 Assistant Service Manager and liaise closely with the Respiratory Clinical Lead.

The core hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Main duties of the job

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the specialty. •    Be responsible for developing, tracking and management of RTT and Cancer performance for the relevant specialty. •    Develop and maintain professional relationships with Clinical teams. •    Take responsibility for the timely and accurate analysis, completion and return of statistical information to Directorate management.  •    Attend and participate in specialty meetings, providing assurance with regards to the effective delivery of services. •    Work closely with clinical and service leads to actively manage costs and stock control in the department. •    Lead on any IT and system issues ensuring proactive management of any failures of systems.  •    To oversee the booking of locums, keeping organised records of locum usage and organise Locum Induction.   •    To contribute to demand and capacity planning for the assigned specialty.  •    Work with the Clinical Service Lead, Matrons/ Heads of Department and assigned speciality clinical teams to regularly review the effectiveness of care pathways and to identify and rectify with solutions to improve performance and the patient experience.  •    Contribute to service development projects. •    In conjunction with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager develop and implement the speciality business plan.
