Band 7 Physiotherapist - Fixed Term Contract 12 months

Job summary

To provide high-quality clinical physiotherapy assessment, intervention and oversight within the therapy service, whilst supporting the effective day-to-day coordination and management of the therapy team.

The postholder will provide Band 7-level clinical leadership, ensuring that physiotherapy and wider therapy provision is safe, effective, evidence-based and person-centred. They will support the therapy team with clinical supervision, caseload management, reporting, timetabling and day-to-day service coordination.

The role will include direct clinical work alongside responsibility for providing clinical oversight and ensuring the therapy service operates effectively.

The postholder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, care staff, families, external professionals and NHS services to ensure residents receive appropriate and coordinated therapy interventions.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical leadership and oversight of the therapy team, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred therapy provision.

Maintain a clinical caseload, assessing and treating approximately 34 patients per day, depending on clinical complexity.

Provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to therapy staff.

Plan and coordinate weekly therapy timetables and caseloads to ensure effective use of resources.

Complete and oversee daily therapy billing and ensure accurate recording of clinical activity.

Support the Band 6 Physiotherapist with six-monthly NHS caseload reports, providing relevant clinical information and outcomes.

Support the management of complex clinical cases, including appropriate escalation and multidisciplinary working.

Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement and clinical governance within the therapy service.

Work collaboratively with residents, families, care staff, clinicians and external healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Support the ongoing development, competence and performance of the therapy team.

Job responsibilities

Quality and Regulations

1. Adhere to the local Safeguarding policy, following the Duty of Candour requirements

2. Understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times.

3. To assess the residents capacity, gain valid informed consent to treatment and where such capacity is lacking/absent to work within a legal framework

4. Contribute to the individualized person centered care planning process of each resident and recording appropriate interactions and observations.

5. Complete all regulatory and statutory training requirements and comply with all company policy and procedures whilst at work

6. Participate in the formal audit process and research opportunities at the request of the General Manager

7. Ensure that all Chaseley policies are upheld

8.Ensure that all regulations are upheld in line with Healthcare Professionals Council, The Care Act, Health & Safety Executive and CQC Care Home regulations and requirements.

Clinical and Leadership

• Provide Band 7-level clinical leadership and oversight to the therapy team.

2. Act as a senior clinical resource and provide advice and guidance to physiotherapists, therapy assistants and other relevant colleagues.

3. Ensure therapy interventions are clinically appropriate, evidence-based, person-centred and responsive to individual needs.

4. Oversee the running of services to all outpatient attendees.

5. Support the team in managing complex clinical presentations and identifying when further assessment, intervention or external referral is required.

6. Promote effective multidisciplinary working across the service.

7. Support the implementation and maintenance of appropriate clinical standards, policies and procedures.

8. Identify and escalate clinical risks, safeguarding concerns and issues relating to quality or patient safety

9. To act as a member of the multidisciplinary team, sharing and disseminating information with relevant team members. To liaise with outside agencies under the direction of therapists

10. To supervise, educate, assess the performance of a highly professional Therapy team includes student placements

11. Continuous monitoring and improving the teams performance to align to quality focused frameworks

12. Participation and contribution in resident pre-admission, progress reviews and discharge plannin

13. To be aware of and adhere to relevant Health and Safety at work regulations

14. To attend meetings as appropriate both internally and externally, sometimes outside the normal working week and hours

15. Undertake patient appointments as required

16. Support the Band 6 Physiotherapist to complete biannual NHS reporting.

Administration

1. Responsible for the maintenance of records and ensuring timetables are produced in a timely manner for residents and programmes are delivered in a timely manner.

2. Participate and contribute to the development of the Physiotherapy service in the home.

3. To produce comprehensive resident related reports for other disciplines or agencies relating to assessment findings and/or treatment outcomes

4. Complete daily entries into the care plan of all interventions and therapy delivered in a timely manner

5. To contribute and participate in recruitment and selection procedures as required

6. To contribute to the induction of new staff in the Therapy team

7. Responsible for ensuring the Data Protection Act 1998 is adhered too in relation to all personal and health information

8. To be aware of policy and responsibilities in managing petty cash as required within the role.

9. Maintain the day-to-day running of the Physiotherapy service

10. Responsible for ensuring the service has appropriate medical supplies and materials for the Physiotherapist team

Professional.

1. To undergo training relevant to the development of the role and practice within their level of competence in line with their professional body.

2. To actively participate in the measurement and evaluation of own work through audit, outcome measurement, the application of evidence based practice and research where appropriate

3. To work within national clinical guidelines and have a good working knowledge of relevant National Standards to which quality of practice should be monitored.

4. To identify and initiate projects including audit to review current clinical practice

5. To coach and develop Physiotherapy Assistants and other members of the care and multi-disciplinary team as required

6. To maintain state registration with the HPC and to provide evidence of that registration annually upon request
