We are looking to recruit a dynamic, experienced and self-motivated nurse into a Band 7 Children’s Nutrition Nurse Specialist Role. They will work with infants, children and young people alongside children’s nursing staff and our experienced Nutrition Nursing team and paediatric dietitians to advise, support and train the care and management of enteral feeding tubes.
In this role, you will provide specialist clinical advice, practical support, and hands-on training to staff, patients, and families in the safe and effective management of enteral feeding tubes.
You will play a key part in supporting best practice, preventing complications, and empowering families and staff to care confidently for children with enteral feeding tubes.
You will be recognised as the acknowledged expert in the management of children/young people with enteral feeding tubes and will provide leadership and direction to staff within Specialist Nursing Services whilst liaising with the Trust Nutrition Nurse Team and Paediatric Dietitians.
The Children’s Nutrition Nurse Specialist will continue to coordinate and develop the provision of a specialist paediatric nutrition nursing service within Birmingham alongside the existing Lead Nutrition Nurse for Children. Your role will involve liaising with the Specialist Nursing Service for Children’s and Families as a clinical expert to provide effective care for enteral feeding patients.
The successful post holder should have experience caring for patients with enteral feeding tubes. Good communication is key as you will be expected to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the trust, acute units with other professionals working in the community.
You will hold a caseload of children and young people (CYP) that require support with the management of their enteral feeding tube and support delivering clinical interventions required within the community setting.
You will work autonomously to provide advanced highly specialised professional advice to colleagues to enhance clinical practice and ensure high standards of enteral feeding tube care.
