A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self-motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy service within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Our Musculoskeletal Service is a busy and forward thinking provider of Community Outpatient Physiotherapy across 17 clinic sites in Birmingham serving a diverse population. We receive referrals for acute and chronic conditions from GPs, ACPs and self referrals.   The Service includes core MSK Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Triage and Pain Management.

We are looking for a suitably qualified Physiotherapist to join our friendly and innovative team. Evidence of extensive post graduate experience of working in an Outpatient Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy environment is essential and previous NHS experience is desirable.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about providing first class assessment & treatment to people with a variety of MSK disorders.  You should be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge & evidence of CPD in MSK Physiotherapy & be prepared to lead and to contribute to our comprehensive IST programme  & clinical interest groups.  You should be able to evidence involvement in Service Evaluation and Development projects.

You will be responsible for managing your own patient caseload within a supportive & experienced team, there will also be the opportunity to supervise Band 5 & 6 Physiotherapists, Assistants & students and you will support the clinical triage of referrals.  You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of leadership within a clinic team.

You will usually be timetabled to work out of a maximum of two different clinics over your working week. We will take into account any requests to work in a certain geographical location however, you may be required to move base as service demands alter. Operating hours are from 7am to 7pm in some clinics across the city and there may be the opportunity for flexible working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide a comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service for adult patients referred for assessment/treatment within the Trust. This will be delivered in health centres and GP surgeries.

To play an active part in the MSK Service providing team leadership and support, and participating in service based initiatives and activities, including the supervision, training and teaching of junior staff, students and assistants.

To be involved in clinical mentorship, supervision and teaching of more junior staff (Band 6 and 5 Physiotherapists and Band 4 and 3 Assistants). To be involved with PDRs of lower banded clinicians.

To be responsible for day to day risk assessment, clinic management and staff support within clinic of work.

To participate in the management of all available resources to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service, which is consistent, accessible and relevant to patients' needs.
