Band 7 Local Security Management Specialist

Job overview

The LSMS will be the security management specialist lead, advising and guiding the Partnership on the development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures designed to maintain or enhance the security and safety of service users, staff and visitors within our sites and services.

As part of the role, the LSMS will develop and implement security related policies and procedures, as well as undertaking audits and risk assessment in both hospital and community settings.

The role will also involve supporting reduction of violence and aggression through compliance with relevant standards and practices across the organisation, actively reducing the risk of harm to staff, patients, and visitors.

Partnership working will also be a major part of the role, liaising closely with external agencies such as police, prison services, other NHS organisations and linking with individuals with in the Partnership following any reported crimes or acts of violence and aggression.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the duties of a Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS) in accordance with directions, advice and guidance laid down by the Department of Health, NHS England, NHS Fraud and Security Management Service and or other NHS regulatory or advisory bodies.

To provide advice, guidance and recommendations on the implementation of security policies and procedures across the Trust to maintain or enhance the security and safety of our service users, staff and visitors. To oversee and monitor the operational implementation of these policies and procedures.

To report and give assurance to the Trust Board, Executive, Quality & Safety Committee and Health & Safety Committee etc that security risks are being managed in accordance with statutory requirements and or NHS guidance. If necessary to raise and escalate security risks that require Executive oversight or action.

To play a critical key role with other senior operational staff in delivery of Police interventions, jointly working with West Midlands Police, CPS to increase prosecutions and convictions of people who assault or abuse NHS staff.

To undertake all security management work in a professional and ethical framework in accordance with Trust Values
