Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Occupational Therapist with highly developed specialist knowledge and skills to assess and treat patients with neurological and rehabilitation needs.

The post holder will take the lead in rehabilitation based in the Assessment and Treatment Service - Moseley Hall Hospital and in addition to working alongside Physiotherapists to provide an outstanding service to patients.

The post requires exceptional communication, advanced clinical skills and expertise in training and developing other staff. The post holder must also enjoy embracing the challenges of this complex client group. The ability to use own initiative and work well as part of a team but also independently.

Main duties of the job

Provide highly specialist occupational therapy and clinical leadership

Deliver highly skilled assessments and therapeutic interventions, by using the principles of occupational therapy in an integrated and client-centred way supported by evidence-based practice.

Play an integral part within the interdisciplinary team (IDT) both clinically and developmentally. Evaluate occupational therapy (OT) interventions in line with national service specifications and professional guidelines.

Support the Service Management Team in day to day management, reviewing services and implementing service developments.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of assessing and treating clients with rehabilitation needs with a minimum of two years’ experience in neuro-rehabilitation speciality.
  • Experience in giving training to a range of qualified professionals in area of specialism.
  • Experience of carrying a complex / diverse caseload.
  • Experience of working in Community Rehab

Skills/knowledge

Essential

  • e Knowledge of relevant community support agencies and other professions and services, and the ability to work and liaise with them.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Evidence of good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications/ Training

Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Occupational Therapy Degree
  • Evidence of relevant CPD

Desirable

  • Active Member of clinical interest group.
  • Attended external training relevant to specialist area.
