Independently perform x-ray guided stereotactic procedures (vacuum assisted biopsy and 14G core biopsy +/- vacuum excision) under agreed protocols.
Obtain the client/patient's consent for the interventional procedure in line with the Trust consent policy prior to the procedure.
Sufficiently resilient to cope with independent working.
Work with indirect supervision during stereotactic intervention sessions, with most of the session not requiring input or advice from another health professional.
Work within own limitations and know when to seek advice.
Communicate with patients explaining the procedure gaining their co-operation.
Label samples and appropriately fill in histology request forms.
To write a full and accurate report on CRIS for the interventional procedures performed, ensuring all relevant details are included.
Attend breast MDT at least monthly
Annually audit your interventional work and present to the Director of Screening, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and acceptable complication rate.
Reflect on your practice.
Participate in other intervention-related audit and patient/client surveys.
Take an active role in QMS, audit and departmental management in line with the responsibility of a Band 7 role.
Work under the guidance of the Lead Radiographer Breast Imaging for mammography, and under the guidance of the Director of Breast Screening for interventional issues.
