Job overview
To provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy service to a wide range of Physiotherapy in-patients. This post consists of 9 monthly rotations in the following clinical areas: - Health Services for Elderly People. (HSEP) - Rapid Response ( A+E and acute medicine ) - Oncology - Respiratory - General surgery and Liver Transplantation - Renal - Vascular Surgery and Amputees
Main duties of the job
To assess and treat own caseload of patients as an autonomous and independent practitioner for patients who may have acute, chronic complex presentation, and maintain appropriate treatment plans, and/or records and statistics. - To participate in the weekend and on call rota - Supervise and teach junior therapists, students and assistants - To be involved in the teaching of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), staff and patient education groups. -Undertake and present evidence-based projects and research including departmental audit and suggesting practice changes, under the supervision of line supervisor.

Experience
Essential
- • Active participation in an audit or project work
- • Good understanding of relevant clinical guidelines
- • Broad range of clinical experience at a Band 5 level or above
- • Experience of working in an acute, hospital-based setting, including working within an MDT
- • Presentations to a range of groups
- • Teaching/training of staff or students
- • Supervision of more junior staff, assistants and/students
- • Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- • Evidence of CPD
- • Experience of weekend working and emergency on-call working
Desirable
- • Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)

- • Evidence of specialist clinical skills and core Physiotherapy skills
- • Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary
- • Ability to communicate with community partners and external agencies especially to facilitate safe and timel hospital discharge

- • Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice
- • Ability to recognise unacceptable behaviour and act on this appropriately

- • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- • Membership of special interest group
