Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, self-motivated Paediatric Audiologist to join the Community Paediatric Audiology Assessment Service. Our small, busy team provides diagnostic hearing assessments for children aged 6 months to 19 years across community clinics in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We are seeking an audiologist with recent postgraduate experience in paediatric assessment to help deliver a high-quality diagnostic service. The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational and time-management skills, enabling them to manage and prioritise a demanding workload. You will be a flexible team player who can also work independently, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with children and families. A calm, methodical approach under pressure is essential.

This role requires travel to various healthcare settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle during working hours.

Please note this service provides diagnostic paediatric hearing assessments only; there is no rehabilitation component to the role.

Essential requirements:

  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification
  • Recent postgraduate experience in paediatric hearing assessment
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Access to own vehicle

Main duties of the job

  • To lead diagnostic clinics and assess the hearing of children and young people aged from 6 months to 19 years of age using a range of specialist behavioural techniques as well as advanced tests of middle ear function.
  • To work autonomously, following all national and local protocols and guidelines and be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • To lead review clinics for children with confirmed hearing loss or for children with conditions with associated risk factors for hearing loss and make outcome decisions for further referral/further monitoring as appropriate.
  • To demonstrate highly specialist paediatric skills in dealing with very young children or children/ young people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • To participate in audit and research projects to further own and the teams clinical practice.
  • To maintain accurate and timely electronic records including audiological assessments and onward referrals in line with core standards and trust policy.
