Job summary

As a Molecular Imaging Technologist, you will care for patients throughout their diagnostic or treatment journey, from explaining the procedure and preparing them for imaging through to completing complex PET/CT and SPECT/CT examinations.

Main duties of the job

Perform PET/CT and SPECT/CT procedures to provide accurate imaging and support each patient's diagnosis or treatment Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely to ensure patients receive the correct examination or therapy Undertake venepuncture and cannulation to prepare patients safely and comfortably for their procedure Support Molecular Radiotherapy patients with post treatment imaging and radiation safety advice to maintain a safe and reassuring care pathway Explain procedures clearly to help patients and carers feel informed, comfortable and involved in their care Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide coordinated and personalised patient care Complete quality assurance checks to maintain accurate imaging and reliable equipment performance Contribute to research, audit and service improvement to strengthen patient care and develop the service Share your knowledge and support colleagues to promote learning and consistent professional practice.

Job title: Molecular Imaging Technologist - Band 6 Department: Molecular Imaging & Theranostics Salary: £45,469 - £55,564 Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Contract: Permanent Are you an experienced Molecular Imaging Technologist looking to develop your career within a highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic imaging service? This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Molecular Imaging & Theranostics team. You will work with advanced PET/CT and SPECT/CT technology while supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate and personalised patient care. A little about the role As a Molecular Imaging Technologist, you will care for patients throughout their diagnostic or treatment journey, from explaining the procedure and preparing them for imaging through to completing complex PET/CT and SPECT/CT examinations. You will take the time to understand each patient's needs, provide reassurance and ensure they feel treated as an individual. Working closely with colleagues across Imaging, Oncology and other specialist services, you will help create a safe, coordinated and compassionate patient experience. You will also prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, maintain imaging quality and radiation safety, and contribute to the continued development of our Molecular Imaging and Theranostics service. A BSc in Nuclear Medicine or a UK recognised equivalent qualification, together with at least two years of post-qualification Molecular Imaging experience, is essential for this role. What you'll be doing

A BSc in Nuclear Medicine or a UK recognised equivalent qualification

At least two years of post-qualification experience within Molecular Imaging

Practical experience within Nuclear Medicine or PET/CT imaging

Strong knowledge of PET/CT and SPECT/CT techniques and protocols

Knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017, IRR17, ARSAC and relevant IPEM guidance

Experience using Radiology Information Systems, MIM and PACS

Evidence of continuing professional development

A calm, compassionate and patient focused approach

The ability to communicate clearly and work closely with others

Experience within private healthcare

Knowledge of Meditech systems

Experience or knowledge of oncology services
